Why do I include bees as part of my wedding photography brand?
Honey and bees have long been part of wedding traditions, symbolizing sweetness, prosperity, and enduring love. In many cultures, newlyweds were gifted honey or mead, a fermented honey wine, to bless their marriage with happiness and fertility. The word "honeymoon" comes from this very tradition, when couples would drink mead for a full moon cycle after their wedding to ensure joy and good fortune.
Even Saint Valentine, the patron saint of lovers, is also the patron saint of bees and beekeepers. Like a thriving hive, a strong partnership is built on harmony, devotion, and shared purpose. Now you can weave this beautiful and timeless tradition into your own wedding:
A portion of every wedding photography package goes directly toward supporting pollinator protection at the local, national, and global levels.
Your love story helps fund habitat restoration, sustainable beekeeping, and conservation efforts that protect bees and other pollinators for generations to come.
The Sweet History of Bees and Marriage
This ancient connection runs deeper than most people realize. For thousands of years, cultures worldwide have recognized bees as symbols of community, fertility, and the sweetness of life. Egyptian pharaohs were buried with honey for the afterlife. Greek gods were said to be nourished by it. Medieval European weddings featured honey cakes and mead toasts.
But here's where it gets really interesting: your wedding photography can be part of this legacy. Every package contributes to habitat restoration and pollinator protection initiatives, ensuring these vital creatures thrive for future generations. When you choose Rezz Studios, you're not just capturing your love story, you're actively participating in one of humanity's oldest traditions of honoring the bees.
Because like the strongest marriages, healthy ecosystems depend on countless small acts of care, devotion, and mutual support.
Frequently Asked Questions About Me, the Bees, and the Honey
Q: Do you really keep bees? Absolutely! I've been a beekeeper for over 8 years. It's more than a hobby, it's a grounding practice that keeps me connected to the land, the seasons, and the magic of slow care. Bees have so much to teach us, and I am always learning.
Q: Where does a portion of my wedding photography package actually go? I am a member of the Boulder County Beekeepers Association as well as the Pollinator Protectors of Colorado. Contributions from your wedding package go directly to these nonprofit organizations that are working to support pollinators on a state, national, and international scale.
Q: Where are your bees? I have a commercial apiary at the Boulder Flower Farm in Boulder, Colorado. It is one of the most ecologically rich areas in the U.S. (second-most biodiverse, in fact!). They forage among native wildflowers, ponderosa pines, and high-elevation blooms, producing honey that's as wild and unique as the land itself.
Q: What makes your honey different? My honey is small-batch, raw, and unfiltered. It's never heated, blended, or treated just pure, golden goodness straight from the comb. Each jar reflects the wildflowers, trees, and elevation of our mountain canyon, offering a true taste of place. It's honey with terroir, like wine, but way stickier.
Q: Does your photography brand include honey? Yes! Every couple I work with receives a mini jar of Sunshine Canyon Honey as part of their wedding experience. It's my way of saying thank you and sharing something meaningful, personal, and sweet from my world to yours.
Q: How can we support the bees? Start small: plant pollinator-friendly flowers, avoid pesticides, buy local honey, and support sustainable beekeepers. Every thoughtful choice helps create a better world for bees and for all of us.
